Infected Experiment[M] (OPEN)

Post by Tayssi on Fri Jun 21, 2013 6:18 am

It was cold. Too cold. Snow covered most of the ground, only unfrozen spot wee empty patches of dirt of puddles of melted snow. Her two metre long tail lashed violently, the hair on the end flicking harshly upon her flanks, grazing the skin beneath her fur. She moved silently through the forest, her blue eyes glowing in the darkness. The sun had not risen yet and her cream fur was now matted and dirty. Cuts scattered her body and though still graceful, she was sluggish. She slowed as she reached a small puddle in the ground. Lowering her head, the bell around her neck clinking softly as she did so. Her long tongue lapped up the small amount of water which the ditch in the ground held. After raising her large head, she sneezed and licked her mouth multiple time, trying to rid the taste of dirt in her mouth. Large ears flicked back as she hissed at the sound of a bush rustling. She spun around, facing the source. Only to see a small rabbit. Relaxing, the beast sat on her haunches, watching the small creature before she yawned and stretched her legs in front of her, her claws peeking out. The rabbit bounded off at once and she sighed. Her nose twitched as a smell came to her and she promptly stood and followed the smell. She moved silently and she soon came across a herd of deer. A full grown buck. However, compared to her, the creature was small. She was at least two times the size of it in height. She huffed as the herd noticed her and started to flee. Tensing and crouching slightly, she leapt at the herd and within only two bounds, she pounced upon a deer, just the force killing it and tore into it before it even hit the ground completely. Her claws extended, gripping onto the animal as she tore it piece by piece, swallowing even the bones. She finished it quickly and she stood and shook herself out before cleaning her paws and lips.

Walking off, looking at the tracks left by the herd, she sighed and left. She was sore and not at full strength. She whined softly and glanced back. Just on her shoulder, in the crevice where her right wing started, was a fairly deep wound which was still oozing blood. She could already see that it was becoming infected. However, she had no idea what to do about it. After all, she had just escaped from a laboratory. She was a 100 year old experiment, mixed with mainly feline and what the scientists call a ‘dragon’. She was the only completed experiment; the only one able to survive without their help. But because of that, she was able to escape from their clutches. The scientists had called her Zanori. Growling, the large beast stared at the infecting wound and liked it gently before hissing and recoiling away. She bounded off, shaking her head quickly with a growl. She had to find somewhere to go. Somewhere to hide. She knew they were tracking her. They’d be using one of their canine trackers. Other experiments. Except, because of their canine DNA, they were loyal and would always return and do as they were told. Canine were stupid. Humans were idiots. They deserved eachother. However, she found the canines annoying. They were excellent at their jobs, which made it harder for her. And with her wound becoming infected, she could barely move her wing, let alone fly. Snapping her jaws at the air in frustration, she skidded to a stop as she came to a cliff edge. She looked and hissed before she turned and bolted, running along the cliff side. She’d come to a way down eventually.

Coming to a ledge soon enough, Zanori slowed to a careful walk as she scaled down the thin ledge. Her wound was aching. It was quickly getting worse. Lips peeling back in a snarl, she sped up ever so slightly. Within a few long minutes, she was at the bottom and she stumbled, almost falling over. It had been almost a day since she escaped and the same amount of time she got the wound. Only an hour after getting it, it started infecting. She could feel a fever coming on and her vision was slowly becoming blurry. Hissing in frustration, she squeezed her eyes shut tightly before she kept moving, needing to find a safe place. Hours past, the sun completely up and making her even hotter than she already was. She then found shelter. It looked like a barn. Stumbling towards it, her horns bumped against the doors before she pushed them open and walked in. Kicking the door shut, before stumbled towards some laid out straw and collapsed onto it. Her breathing laboured and chest heaving. “Dammit,” she growled to herself, “I can’t go like this. Not after just escaping that hell hole,” her tail lashed again and she weakly raised her head to stare at the infected wound. What was she supposed to do?

(Feel free to bring whatever you like in. A canine experiment tracker if you like who decides to help her? Or something else?)

Hurricane lifted his head, watching the humans gathering around him. His ears flicked as he listened to their conversations. They spoke of letting him track the escaped feline dragon hybrid, and his heart rate sped up at the thought. Hurricane had only caught glances of the beast, and each time he noted smugly that he stood slightly taller than it. Red eyes raked over the humans, almost insultingly. Tiny and ugly. If he didn't owe his life to the weaklings, he would've turned against them long ago. Escaping would of been very difficult as well. The various piercings in his ears weren't just for decoration. Some of them were trackers, and others were given as a sign of importance, in a way. Hurricane looked down upon the other experiments. Most of them were failures, in his eyes.  Either weak or small, the poor creatures would never be like him. A loud voice caught his attention. The hybrid looked down, seeing a male human at his feet. "Hurricane!" It yelled, and the animal lowered his head, awaiting whatever instructions they were going to give him. "Bring Zanori back. Alive. Unharmed in possible. We can't afford to lose her. We believe she is injured already. Try not to hurt her anymore," The male spoke firmly, glaring into the amused red eyes of Hurricane. He nodded, and started to rise. "Hurricane!" Pausing, Hurricane waited for the man to continue. "Don't fail us."

The humans thought he could fail. Ha! The hybrid he was hunting was injured and undoubtedly weak. He had a one perfect chance of failing. Moving swiftly through the trees, Hurricane searched for her scent, a confident gleam in his eyes. It took him awhile, but he found it; faint and hardly traceable, but it was there. Being careful as not to lose it, he slowed his pace. Hurricane couldn't help but chuckle. Foolish little kitty. He would return within days, the hybrid with him.

Eventually, Hurricane came upon signs of a struggle, along with a little bit of blood. She must have killed something here. Huffing, he kept going, ignoring the tantalizing scent of blood. Though weakened by the snow, it still made some primitive urges rise in his chest. Hurricane had hunted plenty in his life, knew very well what it felt like to sink his fangs into a living animal. But now, now that he was on a mission, he couldn't afford to stop and toy around with the local prey.  Growling in annoyance, he sped up, a black shadow speeding through the forest. Her scent was growing stronger. Starting to tremble with anticipation, Hurricane lunged forward. And nearly slid over the edge of a cliff as he did so. Scrabbling for purchase, he hauled himself back up over the edge, panting. Well that hadn't been very smart of him. No one had seen him. No one would know. Hurricane trotted along the edge, looking for a way to hop down. He came across the trail she had used, but it was too thin for his bulk to fit on. Further on, there was a series of  single ledges sticking out, and he used those to make his way down.

The sun was glaring down at him, his black fur making him all the  more warm, and all the more temperamental. He quickly picked up Zanori's scent again, and eager to return, he sped up to a full sprint. A toothy grin found its way onto his mouth, her scent ending at an old barn type structure. Hurricane nosed the door open, a silhouette in the doorway. He noted the wound, and winced. That couldn't feel nice. "That's pretty serious." It wasn't the sarcastic remark he had wanted to give her, but she was trapped anyway, so why rile her up?

Zanori glared at the wound with obvious hate, wanting the infection to vanish. She had no idea how she was supposed to make it better. Sure, her DNA was made up of feline and something known as a ‘dragon’ and it would heal itself eventually. However, an infection was longer to heal. That meant longer time with the pain and the fever. And if it got worse and didn’t start healing on its own soon, she could very well die from it. Trying to move her wing, the beast snarled at the pain which shot through her wing. Stretching her legs out in front of her, she flexed her claws with a hiss. This was going to be a long day. Sighing, she pushed herself to her paws, her tail lashing in agitation as she did so. She stumbled forward before she slowly moved to a spot where the straw was laid out a bit thicker. Slowing lowering herself to the ground, her nose twitching. Lifting her head slightly, she smelt the air for a moment, thinking she had smelt something. However, the only scent which came to her was the overwhelming smell of straw and hay. Growling, she laid her head on the ground, rolling onto her side, and heaved a breath. She felt so hot inside but so cold outside from the cold air. Not a good combination. She let out a breath, which came out as fog and she grunted before she closed her eyes, trying to stop her vision from blurring. The fever was bad but it wasn’t severe yet, which was good. Trying to ignore the pain in her wing and shoulder, she tried to get some sleep before she had to get moving again. Maybe sleeping would start the healing process.

Suddenly, she heard something outside and her blue eyes snapped open and her head wrenched of the ground, her bell clinking rather loudly. Her ears swivelled back and forth, trying to locate the sound. Her muscles tensing in anticipation and fear. In her state, she couldn’t fight. However, her blood begged for it. The beast she was, wanted to fight. To draw some blood. Growling at herself, she lurched to her paws as the doors opened and a canine tracker stood there. It was Hurricane. She had seen him multiple times in the lab. He was one of their strongest and best trackers they had. She growled at him, ignoring his words as she took a few steps back, almost falling as she did so. Closing her eyes for a moment, she steadied herself before she opened them again, glaring at the canine. She was too slow. She should’ve kept moving. She knew they would’ve sent a tracker as soon as she got out and yet she had wasted so much time and then come here to rest. She was foolish. Hissing at her own stupidity, Zanori sat down. The image of Hurricane was blurred in her eyes, she couldn’t see properly. She hadn’t been able to anything to clean it. The only bit of water she had found, she had to drink. She really was foolish.

Shaking her head slightly, the beast lowered her head slightly to stare at the ground, her long tail curling around her front paws. Of course they had to get Hurricane to track her down. Though he was nowhere near as heartless as most of the other canine trackers the lab created, Zanori knew for a fact he was the biggest asshole of them all. He was just a plain bastard. Not someone she would’ve chosen to come find her. Actually, she would’ve chosen them all to stay home, but that wasn’t the point. She spread her one wing that she could move, stretching it out as far as it would go to relax the muscles a bit before she folded it back to her side and glancing her other wing. Huffing, she returned her gaze to Hurricane before finally saying, “I guess. Probably looks worse than it really is,” total lie. To be honest, it was more to the point that it was worse than it looked. But it’s not like she wanted to admit that to a tracker. She wanted no help from him. Only for him to leave her alone. Shaking her head, trying to rid the dizziness, she had to lay down. Her body was completely messed up at the moment. She was both hot and cold and it was totally messed up. Not what she wanted. Showing weakness in front of a tracker was the worst possible thing to do. Especially to someone like Hurricane.

Hurricane considered the wounded hybrid for a moment. He couldn't help but feel pity for the poor creature. The humans restricted him in many ways, and he just barely got by with the small amount of freedom he was allowed. It wasn't enough for some, and seeing she had feline and dragon combined, the urge to roam must be overwhelming. Had he wanted to escape, it would be difficult, but not impossible. With wolf DNA, he would have been able to run for very long periods of time, and hunting would be too simple. The only problem were the trackers in his ear. If they caught him, his already small amount of freedom would be revoked and he would spend years trying to gain their trust again. That was not how he wanted his life to be spent. So Hurricane obediently tracked down and returned the experiments, and though he didn't often feel pity for them, he felt it for Zanori. He couldn't help but put himself in her place. Wounded, and cornered by an animal that was larger and more healthy. What would she return to at the lab? Nothing good. Hurricane mentally sighed, feeling his sense of mercy start to break through. But he had his orders. He couldn't fail. Zanori was going to return with him, even if he had to knock her out to do it.

"I can smell it from here. It's worse than it looks." He replied, looking at the wound with obvious distaste. What did he know about injuries? Keep them clean, that's pretty much it. Hurricane shook his head, and stepped forward, slowly, trying not to make her panic. "If you cooperate, I can get it clean before we go back. That can't be fun to live with." He was only a little sympathetic, and spoke to her in a cold tone. Hurricane tried not to think about it too hard. He couldn't start having second thoughts. "You can accept my offer, or I can wait until you're too weak to fight me and take you back there like that. Your choice." He said, slightly smirking. Would she really choose the latter? She might be a bit foolish, but even a pup could see the opportunities with the first choice. Hurricane was well aware what her choice would bring, but he was prepared. He flicked his ears, the piercings jingling against each other. "Or, if you don't choose, I can hold you down and clean it myself. But that won't feel pleasant. So make your choice."

Hurricane wasn't anxious to clean the wound, but it wasn't like he wouldn't. He couldn't have her dying before they returned. Just cleaning the wound could prolong her life for quite a while. "I will drag you back by your tail if you don't cooperate, so just keep that in mind." Hurricane chuckled, flashing her a cocky smile. Clicking his teeth together, the canine stepped forward again, looking down at Zanori with his slightly amused red eyes. He wanted to make her mad. It just might take her mind off the wound. The fighters always fought it off for a longer time.

Narrowing her blue eyes to slits, Zanori watched the canine as he spoke. So he knew that the wound was bad. Hissing at herself, she tensed as she noticed him step towards her. Ears flicking back, shoulders and flanks quivering slightly. Maybe out of caution, maybe due to fear, she had no idea. But any sort of weakness was not something she wanted to show. But in her weakened state, she couldn’t really hide any emotions she felt. Not what she would like, but oh well. Her large ears flicked forward again as he started to speak again. Her eyes opened properly and she sighed. She knew she should take the first option. But she didn’t want help from someone who was so hung over taking her back to that damned laboratory. For more tests, more torture and living in a cage which she couldn’t stretch in, let alone walk in. Glancing up at his piercings as he flicked his ears, she glared at the one which had a tiny, faint flashing light that wouldn’t be noticeable to the average creature. But she wasn’t average. Far from it. She also knew exactly what it was. It was a tracker. No wonder this canine didn’t try to escape from the lab. The lab had tried multiple times to put a tracker on her, however, due to her own body heat, they would all overheat and burn out. Good thing for her, as they would have a hard time to find her. Unless, of course… They sent a canine tracker. And they did. Wasn’t overly surprising, as Zanori was the only successful experiment that could stay alive with the dragon DNA. All others had rejected the DNA and died within hours, maybe days if they were unlucky. Just by watching, she knew how painful it would be for it to reject your body.

Shivering at the thought, she quickly returned her gaze to the canine with a deathly glare as he said he would hold her down and clean it. However, when he finally said that he would drag her by her tail, she pushed herself to her paws, claws digging through the wooden floor. She growled, her ears flicking back and her fur bristling. Flanks now quivering in rage. It pissed her off that he could even consider doing such a thing. It was probably because Zanori was very touchy about her tail, but still. That was more than likely something to do with her feline DNA, but she wouldn’t admit it. Often denying being so touchy about her tail, she wasn’t the type to admit such stupid things. “Don’t even attempt it,” she snarled at him, snapping her long, sharp teeth at the canine, baring them towards him. Okay, so it was obvious she was easily provoked, but she couldn’t help it. That was just who she was. Her tail lashed from side to side in agitation as she glared at the canine, her mind completely away from the pain from her injury. She growled softly, her claws retracting and then reappearing again, flexing them.

Taking a few deep breaths after she thought about it for a few moments, Zanori slowly sat down and forced herself to relax. “Sorry. I shouldn’t have snapped,” she took a deep breath and sighed, “do what you want. But don’t think I’m going to be rushing to get back to that hell hole. I’ll be taking my sweet ass time,” she said. Though, once she was feeling better, she’d be trying to escape. Obviously. No one would go quietly back to that place. Shaking her head softly, she stared at him for a moment, “however, there is somewhere I want to go before we head back. There’s a lake somewhere near here and it’s supposed to be really pretty at sunset and at night,” she told him before she glanced at her wound. She tried to move her wing. She was able to move the wing itself, but when she tried to move it up or down, pain sparked through it and she hissed, tucking it back comfortably against her side. Her blue eyes turned back to Hurricane, her ears flicking slightly. Her fever hadn’t gotten any worse, which was good. But it hadn’t gone down yet, either.

Re: Infected Experiment[M] (OPEN)

Post by ℓonesomє on Thu Jun 27, 2013 9:54 pm

He could feel the urge to let her go starting to surface, and pushed it down. That feeling always made his job harder. Hurricane could remember his first assignment. An avian experiment. It was small, but with the wings it had been given, it made it difficult to track. The creature had been hideous. Like a small dragon, the creature was scaly with all sorts of bumps scattered on its body. It had no eyes, (small mistake) and Hurricane guessed it had a bit of Bat DNA mixed in as well, because when he came close the creature always released a series of strange clicking noises.  A dragon bat bird. Guaranteed to have wings, the lack of eyes seemed to be only a small problem. After a small scuffle with the beast, Hurricane emerged successful. But much to his humiliation, the weakling had managed to injure him. Its razor sharp teeth had cut deep into his shoulder, and he returned with the animal still struggling in his jaws, and a slight limp. No of the others dared to tease him about it though. He had almost let it go, but the scientists had drilled so many things into his head, he thought the lab was the better place for the pitiful little creature.

Zanori's sudden movement ripped him from his slight remembrance, and he gave her an amused look. "Oooh, feisty little kitty, huh? Maybe we should get you declawed!" He laughed at his own joke, but quickly became serious once more. Hurricane looked up at the ceiling, pondering the possibility of it falling in on them. Her apology surprised him. The canine shook his head, and gave her a stern look. "Don't apologize." To him, it wasn't necessary and it just made things a bit awkward. "And I would have it no other way. It's not everyday I get free roam either. We can go to that little lake of yours and anywhere else. Do you think you can make it there without me having to clean that for you?" Blinking quickly at his own generosity and lack of sarcastic remarks, Hurricane dipped his head. "Our time limit is five days. Let's try not to get too attached." He told her, sarcasm peeking through in his tone. Licking his nose, Hurricane stepped forward again, fixing his gaze on her face and softening the look in his eyes.

"Do you have a fever?" He asked, gentler than usual. If this was anybody else, he would be an even bigger asshole towards them. But she was an injured, but successful experiment. No reason to be smart with her, only to keep her annoyed enough to keep her mind from the wound. "We'll have to get to that lake quickly. Out here, something like that can be deadly." Hurricane didn't want her to die. Not because he cared, but only because he pitied the poor hybrids that would be created in her place. And at least 95% would die or be failures, destined for nothing. Her survival meant the survival of many other animals, and it made sure no more would be born in the labs. No more deformed infants, screaming for their few hours of pain filled hell, until they died or were disposed of. Test tube babies. Sighing softly, Hurricane looked over his shoulder, checking the canyon behind him.

Re: Infected Experiment[M] (OPEN)

Post by Tayssi on Sat Jul 06, 2013 8:00 pm

Zanori huffed in distaste at the thought of being declawed.  She was a feline; they were meant to have claws. She hated the mere thought of even pet cats being declawed, let alone herself. Shuddering at her own thoughts, she stood and dropped her chest to the ground and stretched her legs in front of her, wincing slightly at the discomfort in her shoulder as she did so. Straightening herself, she yawned softly and sighed. Ears flicking gently as he spoke again, telling her not to apologise. Her bright eyes merely blinked at him in acknowledgement before she flicked her tail gently, her long hair on the end of it sliding along the ground and touching her paws momentarily. A small, almost smile spread across her lips as he said she could go.  Atleast she wouldn’t have to fight against him for it. Not that she could wing at the moment, but oh well. “I’ll survive,” she replied to his question. She didn’t overly want someone who was ordered to take her back to that laboratory to touch her. Not that she would overly reject his help to get better, but if she didn’t have to take it, she wouldn’t. She’d be able to get to the lake safely.. Hopefully, anyway. Sighing as he said their time limit was 5 days, she gave a slow, reluctant nod. She snorted at his comment about trying not to get too attached, she shook her head. “There will be no need to try,” she remarked with an ever so soft chuckle, watching him closely for a moment.

She pulled her head back slightly as he stepped towards her, but she didn’t move. She was surprised when he asked whether she had a fever and she was speechless for a moment. Lowering her head slightly, cocking it to the side as she watched him. Zanori sighed gently and she shook her body, claws digging into the wooden floor to brace herself, she sat down for a quick moment. “I do. However, it’s alright, I’ll be fine, we should get going though. I have no idea how long it’s going to take me to get there,” she replied before she stood and stepped around the canine and out of the barn. She breathed in the fresh air before she glanced back at Hurricane and sighed. Even if she tried to escape, he’d easily be able to stop her. Huffing, Zanori turned and made her way through the canyon slowly, keeping herself upright and balanced. Why was it that she had to be an experiment? Why did it have to be her to be tortured and jabbed with needles? Samples of blood constantly taken from her and the only time to stretch was when she had to move from one cage to another or go in for some kind of test or occasional operation. It wasn’t the way she wanted to keep on living.

However, at the moment, she couldn’t fight against Hurricane. Flicking her tail, Zanori kept moving. She could ever so slowly feel her fever subsiding, however, her wound was not healing yet. Maybe it was just to rest and get some air that helped her fever. She didn’t know, but she wasn’t arguing with it. Huffing, she glanced back, wondering if Hurricane was coming or not. Deciding that she didn’t overly care, she looked ahead and kept moving. Her ears flicked and she yawned again and shook her head. She was so tired. Groaning at herself for feeling that way, she glanced at her wound before he eyes trailed to her wing. She so wished she could fly again. She had only been able to fly in the laboratory only a couple times. In a large white room, all paws shackled and chained to the ground so she couldn’t escape.

Re: Infected Experiment[M] (OPEN)

Post by ℓonesomє on Sat Jul 20, 2013 9:26 am

[Oh.my.god. I am so sorry this took so long. My muse isn't what is should be, and it's just now returning. Sorry if this is a bit short.]

Hurricane nodded. He thought of the challenges Zanori would pose once she was mostly healed, and grimaced slightly. A fight with her was a fight to avoid. Hurricane might of been a bit bigger, but some of the other feline experiments had sunk their claws into him a time or two, and that was not pleasant. When she confirmed his suspicions about her fever, the canine sighed and watched her as she moved past him. What would happen if he failed this? If he came home with claw marks across his muzzle and his head hung? He'd rather not think about it. Muttering softly to himself, Hurricane turned in time to see her glance back at him. He had no problem with her being in front. That was one of the rules of... well, everything, wasn't it? Keep your enemy in front of you. He snorted. Zanori was more of an opponent than anything. Still, at the moment, he wouldn't trust her behind him.

He shifted into a trot, quickly catching up to her. "You don't have to be so cold, you know. Just because I'm your tracker doesn't mean you can't strike up a conversation." Hurricane told her, grinning slightly. "I don't bite all that hard, and I only will if you try to attack me. You felines have nasty claws, you know that?"  He yawned, and moved up a little closer to  her. "How far away is this little lake of yours?" Though it didn't bother him, walking for three hours wasn't on the list of things he would like to be doing. Rest and a piece of cow seemed ideal at the moment. If that what was he wanted, he wondered what Zanori wanted. She was injured, probably exhausted and was caught for the moment. Brushing the thoughts aside, Hurricane looked around the canyon they were in. It didn't hold his attention for very long. With a huff of annoyance,  he slowed, and considered the hybrid in front of him.  "Why'd you run?" Hurricane asked softly, red eyes blinking as she moved up beside her. "You're smart enough to know it wasn't going to work." He nudged her rib cage, awaiting an answer. "I don't want to bring you back to them, but I have to, and you've only made it worse for yourself." Hurricane shook his head, and fell behind her again, hoping he hadn't made her too mad.

He hadn't been born with the freedom he had today. It had taken him a long time to gain their trust, and even now he didn't have it to a full extent. It was fear of what would happen that kept him there. He didn't want to spend years of his life boxed up in a cage again. What he had was alright. But it hurt, knowing what he was returning Zanori to. His thoughts made him chuckle. Here he was, big heartless Hurricane feeling sympathy for his prisoner. His laughing fading, and he sighed. What kind of life was this?
